Stay Home, Stay Safe!
I hope everyone is managing well during this challenging time. It’s been a real struggle staying at home, isn’t it? For those of you who are still working and sticking to your usual routines, consider yourselves lucky. But for the rest of us, what are we doing indoors? What’s really going on inside those houses?
There’s been talk about domestic violence cases on the rise, but I find it hard to believe. After all, isn’t this the perfect time for families to bond, connect, and enjoy each other’s company? Personally, I can’t help but think about how wonderful it would be to spend this time with a partner. We’d be doing TikTok challenges, watching movies, cooking together, and laughing at ourselves. Though, I must admit, I’m not the best dancer. I’ve tried recording myself a few times, but I always end up laughing at my own moves! Regardless, it’s about making the most of the situation—finding joy in simple moments.
Being home alone isn’t always easy, and I’ll admit, I’ve found ways to cope. Just the other day, I had a cup of tea and popcorn, which might sound silly, but it’s little things like that that help pass the time. As for cooking… well, I’ve only managed to prepare a proper meal once in the past few days. I dislike cooking, but that doesn’t mean I can’t whip up something tasty when I put my mind to it!
When it comes to entertainment, I’ve been watching movies nonstop—until 4am some nights! But amidst all that, I’ve been working hard on writing for my story, Unpromised. Writing, especially with such a complex plot, is no easy feat. I’m almost finished with the story plan and can’t wait to share it with you. Expect a series of parts with plenty of twists and turns—stay tuned!
Unfortunately, like many of us, I had big plans for April, but the pandemic has completely derailed them. Still, I try to keep my spirits up, even though it’s hard not to get frustrated by the ongoing uncertainty. And speaking of tea… I actually don’t drink tea! I’m more of a shower-and-workout person. To stay fit, I’ve been lifting soda bottles and doing exercises like push-ups, sit-ups, and jumping jacks. I’m determined to avoid gaining any unwanted weight during this lockdown.
As for social media, I’ll admit—I’m hooked. I find myself constantly checking WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook to stay updated on what’s happening around the world, especially in the US. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone dealing with the crisis there. It’s inspiring to see how the US is handling the pandemic with a strong sense of precaution and unity, even though they’re facing unprecedented challenges. And let’s not forget President Trump’s efforts during this time.
Here at home, I think we need some uplifting music to help ease the tension. However, I can’t help but question the government’s priorities. While they’ve allocated funding for musicians, why not use that money to help provide masks for everyone? Not every Kenyan can afford one, and it’s concerning to see the push for mandatory mask-wearing without offering a solution for those who need it most.
By the afternoon, I’ll probably be watching more movies (until the curfew sets in), and when I get hungry, I’ll grab some fruits or head out to pick up a snack. And, like many of you, I’ll probably keep scrolling through social media, keeping in touch with friends, and finding ways to pass the time.
In the evenings, I’ll play some guitar, chat with a few people, and then return to watching movies late into the night. Before bed, I always read a few Bible verses and say a prayer to help calm my mind. Then, it’s off to sleep, hoping for a brighter day tomorrow.
This routine will continue until the world finds its way through this crisis, and I truly hope that day comes soon.
Take care, stay safe, and remember to keep finding moments of joy in the little things. We will get through this.
